East Chapel Hill High School student Arnav Tripathy will represent the United States at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Vietnam in July.
Tripathy earned a spot on the six-member team for the second time. He won a gold medal at last year’s event in Slovenia.
The team will train for three weeks prior to the competition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Tripathy qualified for the competition through exams sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, followed by a competition in Washington, D.C. last month.
