Town looks to save well

Posted on June 7, 2007June 7, 2007 by Staff

The Carrboro Board of Aldermen Tuesday night received an emergency petition from supports of the community garden at the new Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Hillsborough Road.
The board asked Town Manager Steve Stewart to talk with contractors preparing to move a house and septic system on the site. Under terms of the contract with the town, the contractors are required to cap and fill in the old well.
But garden proponents want to use the well and a solar power system to provide water to the garden. A recent test of the well showed that at least 1,000 gallons might be available for irrigation.
