Obituary – Dr. John George Keller

Posted on July 19, 2007 by Staff

Dr. John George Keller, 78, formerly of Olney, Maryland, passed away suddenly at the home of his youngest daughter, Michele S. White, on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  He is predeceased by his father, George K. Keller, and mother, Louise Tognetti Keller Vachon.  He was a devoted husband to his wife of 56 years, Consuelo Puente Keller.  He was also a loving father to his six grieving daughters, three sons-in-law and nine grandchildren.  Dr. Keller was well known in the field of General Toxicology and his professional career spanned over 50 years.

Some of his areas of expertise included Carcinogenesis, Environmental and Health Hazards, and Risk and Regulatory Analysis.  Throughout his professional life Dr. Keller remained very proud of his early contributions to the first Clean Air and Water Acts of the 1960s and 1970s.  We deeply mourn his passing and we will always remember our father’s great energy as well as his deep love for his family and life.

We were very blessed to have had him in our lives.

Surviving are his wife, Consuelo Puente Keller, his daughters: Patrice Keller McElroy, Maria-Christina Keller Timpane, Gabrielle Luisa Tugendrajch, Lisa Keller, Kimberley Anne Keller and Michele Keller White, and his sons-in-laws: Terry L. McElroy, John Timpane, and Phillip Tugendrajch, and his grandchildren; Catherina Keller McElroy, John Holt McElroy, Kyle Virginia McElroy, Pilar Rose Keller Timpane, Conor Joaquin Keller, Jacob Keller Tugendrajch, Siena Keller Tugendrajch, Zachary Todd White and Samantha Michele White.

A memorial service was held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2007 at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel, 120 West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.  The family received friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to David Moon and Lance White of Chapel Hill for all their loving assistance in our time of need.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C.

Online condolences may be sent to walkersfuneralhome@zoomshare.com.

i’m wondering if Dr. keller is the same Dr. Keller who had an office
in the hospital plaza just off route 108 between olney and ashton.
