Obituary: Nick Thomas Watts

Nick Thomas Watts, one of Carrboro’s longest established businessmen, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at the age of 89. He was born September 15, 1917 in Columbus County, NC to Ida B. Cumbee and Levy Edmond Watts. He was the youngest son of six children.

Nick is survived by his wife of 69 years, Zolena Duncan Watts and five children; Jeanette W. Moody, Thomas Levy (Rebecca), Richard McKinley, James Gregory (Ann), and Deborah Carol Watts. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

The family received visitors at Walker’s Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin Street in Chapel Hill on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.

The funeral service will be at Carrboro United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Carrboro United Methodist Church and/or Farrington Road Baptist Church.
