Basketball coaches wanted
The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is currently accepting volunteer coaches’ applications for the 2007-08 Youth Basketball Program. Coaches must exhibit the ability to organize practices and communicate effectively with players, parents and Recreation Department staff. They must also exhibit the ability to teach proper playing skills, fundamentals and sportsmanship and provide an enjoyable atmosphere at practices and games. Initial deadline for all applications is Friday, August 17th. To receive a volunteer coach’s application or additional information, please contact the Recreation Department at 918-7364.  

Fall baseball
The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is currently accepting volunteer applications to coach teams of 9 and 10 year olds in the 2007 Youth Fall Baseball Program. Coaches must exhibit the ability to organize team practices and communicate effectively with players, parents and Recreation Department staff. They must also exhibit the ability to teach proper playing skills, fundamentals and sportsmanship and provide an enjoyable atmosphere at practices and games. To receive a volunteer coach’s application or additional information, please contact the Recreation Department at 918-7364.

Soccer skills
The Carrboro Recreation & Parks Department is sponsoring C.L.A.S.S. (Children Learning Athletic Sports Skills) soccer for kids and their parents. The program is designed for children 4 to 6 years old as of the start of the class. The goal of the program is to introduce the fundamentals of soccer to the participant and parent. The instructor guides both the child and parent in understanding the skills of passing, dribbling, trapping and shooting. Parent and child will be encouraged to practice at home the skills learned. Parent participation is a major part of this program. The program will be held on Saturdays, 9:00am-10:00am, from September 8th to October 13th. The cost is $47 a child. Pre-registration is required and will begin Monday, May 7th at the Carrboro Recreation & Parks Department, 100 N. Greensboro St. Space is limited. Frisbee camp
The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is sponsoring an Ultimate Frisbee Camp, July 30th to August 3rd for youth ages 10 to 15. The fee is $85. Registration is currently being accepted at the Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro St., Carrboro. Camp runs 8am-11am. Cheerleading camp
The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is sponsoring Cheerleading Camp, August 6th-10th for youth ages 6 to 9. The fee is $85. Registration is currently being accepted at the Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro St., Carrboro. Camp runs 8:30am-11:30am.
