Blood supply status at critical level

The American Red Cross Orange County Chapter blood supply is at critical status levels.

In addition, as of July 27, the O-positive and O-negative blood supply was at emergency status levels, with less than a day and a half of supply on hand.

To make an appointment to give blood, donors may contact the chapter at 942-4862 or occhapnc@intrex.net. The chapter also has scheduled a number of blood drives during the month of August. These include:

  • August 3, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at the YMCA at 980 Martin Luther King Blvd.;
  • August 10, 2:30-7 p.m., at Chapel Hill Bible Church at 230 Erwin Road;
  • August 12, 12-4:30 p.m., at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills;
  • August 12, 12-4:30 p.m., at New Sharon United Methodist Church in Hillsborough;
  • August 18, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at the Institute of Religion in Chapel Hill;
  • August 21, 3:30-8 p.m., at the Church of the Holy Family at 200 Hayes Road;
  • August 22, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Great Hall in the Student Union on UNC’s campus;
  • August 22, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at the Franklin Trust Building across from Meadowmont;
  • August 23, 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at OWASA on Jones Ferry Road;
  • August 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at UNC General Administration at 910 Raleigh Road; and
  • August 26, 12-4:30 p.m., at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hillsborough.
