New facility will also be a focus for company’s retail brews
Next week is another first for Pittsboro, as Chapel Hill-based Carolina Brewery opens a new 9,000-square-foot restaurant and brewpub near the new Lowe’s Home Improvement store at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and U.S. 64 bypass.
The location, the company’s second, will house brewing operations along with the restaurant and feature patio dining and a room for private parties and dinners.
Carolina Brewery owner Robert Poitras, who lives in Chatham County, said he’s looking forward to opening up a place to serve the fast-growing North Chatham area.
Head chef and Culinary Institute of America graduate Andrew Forster is moving from Chapel Hill to run the Pittsboro kitchen, the company announced.
In addition to food service, the new site will house the company’s retail brewing operations, producing all beer for Carolina Brewery’s expanding restaurant, grocery and direct-to-consumer sales. Longtime brewmaster Jon Connolly will oversee brewing operations. Next to the brewery and restaurant will be The Hopshop, described as a “quick serve spot†for breakfast and lunch that offer Carolina Brewery beer and merchandise to go.
Carolina Brewery & Grill Pittsboro will begin serving dinner Monday, Aug. 6 and expand its hours on Aug. 20 to include lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
