Tree pruning workshop
The International Society of Arboriculture Southern Chapter, in partnership with Elon University Botanical Garden, Duke Energy, Alamance County Cooperative Extension and the Bartlett Tree Expert Company is presenting a basic tree climbing and pruning workshop. A registration fee of $35 per person includes lunch.

Organic short course
The Center for Environmental Farming Systems will sponsor an organic certification short course on August 22 as part of the center’s Seasons of Sustainable Agriculture workshop series.
The workshop will be held at the center in Goldsboro and will be led by Tony Kleese of Eastern Carolina Organics.

Potluck reminder
The fourth “Potluck in a Pasture†summer supper will be held Sunday, August 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Harland’s Creek Farm west of Pittsboro.
Featured artists include ceramicist Salinda Dahl, sculptor Susan Draughon, wood turner Joel Hunnicutt and potter Melody Troncale.
Visitors are asked to bring a potluck dish for eight made with at least one local ingredient as well as a copy of the recipe, a beverage, lawn chair or blanket and $10 for adults ($8 for members) and $5 for children ages 6-12.
Proceeds benefit ChathamArts, a nonprofit county arts council that supports diverse arts and cultural programs in the schools and the community.
