Celebrations: Spalt-Stuckey

Posted on September 13, 2007 by Staff

Elizabeth Willey Spalt and Andrew Edward Stuckey celebrated their wedding at Wrightsville Beach over the weekend of August 10th, 2007. Elizabeth is the daughter of Allen and Susan Willey Spalt of Carrboro. Andy is the son of Edward and Naomi R. Stuckey of Greensburg, Indiana.

They were married Friday evening before immediate family at the Spalt’s beach house.  The double-ring ceremony was written by Andy and Elizabeth and presided over by the Rev. Penelope Morningstar. A reception followed on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, Wrightsville Beach, where music was provided by the band Schooner from Carrboro.

Honorary bridesmaids were Courtney Cosgrove of Carrboro, Marie Hopper of Pittsboro and Kathy Zeisel of New York City.  Witnesses were Elizabeth’s brother Dan Spalt and Andy’s sister Jessica Ruble.

The couple met as students at Indiana University, Bloomington, from which they both have undergraduate degrees.  Elizabeth earned an M.S. degree in Environmental Health from the University of Washington. Andy is a certified teacher.

After a trip that included visits to London, Scotland and Amsterdam, the couple has returned to Seattle, Washington where they reside. Elizabeth works with Integral Consulting in Seattle. Andy has been teaching in the City of Auburn schools.

The couple was most pleased that their family and so many of their friends were able to join them, many traveling long distances. From the water taxi to Masonboro Island on Thursday to the brunch on Sunday, their greatest joys were sharing their happy occasion and visiting with those who came.
