Several singers from McDougle Middle School, East Chapel Hill High School and United Church of Chapel Hill participated in the inaugural Male Vocal Arts Symposium recently in Greensboro.

Ninety-five singers from middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, churches and community choirs across the state formed a choir to perform at the symposium.

East Chapel Hill High participants included principal David Thaden and students Patrick Collins, Kevin Dorman, Jay Mathews, Cory Mayo, Walsh Moore, Dylan Reed and Dylan Smythe. They were sponsored by Desiree Davis-Omburo.

Tim Fay represented McDougle Middle School, and Doug Bruce, Jason Ching, Bob Lawton, Raleigh Mann, Tom Terry and Dan Uyesato represented United Church. They were sponsored by Jenny Anderson.

The program was created by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and took place at UNC-Greensboro as part of the chapter’s annual conference.
