Lavelle and Coleman
I worked with Carrboro Board of Aldermen candidates Lydia Lavelle and Dan Coleman for a year on the New Horizons Task Force, which was created to strengthen communication between the board of aldermen and residents of the newly annexed areas of Carrboro. Dan was one of the alderman liaisons and Lydia, who lives in the annexed area, chaired the committee.
I found both Lydia and Dan to take their work very seriously and to be respectful, active listeners. Dan was very helpful in finding ways for us to navigate the Carrboro town government. Lydia’s leadership kept us on task and encouraged all task force members to participate. I have confidence that Dan and Lydia exemplify the type of thoughtful, balanced stewardship we need in Carrboro and would like to encourage my fellow citizens to vote for them in November.

Supporting Cook
I have known Sharon Cook for ten years. Sharon is a dedicated, community-oriented citizen. Presently Sharon is a member of the Carrboro Town Planning Board and is also a representative to the Carrboro Greenways Commission. Sharon would be an excellent addition to the Carrboro Board of Aldermen. She would truly represent all the citizens of Carrboro, something sorely needed given the current make-up of the board.

Chilton and Coleman
As a member of the steering committee for the creation of the Orange County Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness and now the chair of the executive team overseeing the plan’s implementation, as well as the chair of the Chapel Hill Town Council’s inclusionary zoning task force, I have had the opportunity to work closely with members of the Carrboro Board of Aldermen.
Among those are Mayor Mark Chilton and Alderman Jacquelyn Gist, who have served with me in working on the 10-year plan, and Alderman Dan Coleman, who has been an invaluable sounding board and supporter of efforts to end homelessness and promote housing affordability.
Although I myself am running for re-election in Chapel Hill, as a leader of these community-wide initiatives I urge Carrboro voters to support Mayor Chilton and Alderman Coleman on November 6. The greater community needs these seasoned and dedicated leaders in its work on homelessness and affordable housing.

Supporting Strom
I am writing to endorse Bill Strom for re-election for [Chapel Hill] Town Council. During his eight years in office he has shown himself to be fair, hard working and able to get things done. Bill Strom’s leadership on the town council has strengthened neighborhoods all over Chapel Hill. When we needed help from the town, Bill listened to us and acted on our concerns. It was clear from his effectiveness that his many years of experience working within the town system have given him the ability to get to the bottom of an issue quickly. Please join me in voting to re-elect him.

Bill Strom fights for neighborhoods in Chapel Hill. When there was a major safety and quality-of-life issue where I live, he worked closely with us to navigate through Chapel Hill’s process and achieve a desired outcome for our neighborhood. It is that kind of commitment to both working with the public and taking the right side of a controversial issue that makes him such a good member of the [Chapel Hill] Town Council. I know that if I need something, Bill will be responsive and helpful. That’s the hallmark of a good elected official. Please vote to re-elect him this fall.

Bill Strom is running for re-election to the Chapel Hill Town Council, and I would like to voice my support for him yet again.
We need local leaders who possess experience and political savvy in this rapidly changing community.
Bill understands planning. Nowhere is this more apparent than in his role as a local leader dealing with the university on the Carolina North project.
I can think of no other issue that will have a greater effect on our community than this potential project. It is critical that we have Chapel Hill leaders who understand the complexities of long-range planning, the need to build a viable economy while protecting the environment and, finally, the strength and knowledge to sit down with university leaders to address the future of our community. Bill is smart, articulate and experienced — just who we need to continue to represent the citizens of Chapel Hill.
