Colonial Day at Rashkis Elementary
On Nov. 15., Rashkis Elementary School students celebrated the first Rashkis Colonial Day.
Fifth graders recently completed their study of the American colonial period. As part of the colonial unit, students wrote reports, made presentations and created other projects.
During Rashkis Colonial Day, students participated in a variety of hands-on activities, including colonial games, writing with a quill pen and ink, contra dance and making butter.
ABCs of exceptional education programs
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will sponsor “The ABC’s of Exceptional Children’s Education Programs†on Nov. 26 from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carolina Center for Education Excellence at Smith Middle School.
The program is an informational evening for parents of special-needs students that has been designed to improve communication between parents and school administrations.
The program will include an overview of exceptional children’s programs and classes and a presentation by the Special Needs Advisory Council.
Childcare will be available for children ages 5-11. Parents must register for childcare by Nov. 16 by calling 967-8211, ext. 234.
