Chapel Hill Community Center reopens

Posted on December 6, 2007 by Staff

The Chapel Hill Community Center, closed for renovations since January, re-opened Wednesday. The center is at 120 South Estes Drive, across from the Post Office.

Renovations that cost about $2 million include a pool overhaul, a new roof, a new gym floor, new air conditioning and amenities for the handicapped.

The climbing wall is expected to open next week.

The community center also offers basketball, volleyball, trails, a playground and a rose garden.

The pool will be closed this weekend for a few final touches and the town warns that those sensitive to chemical smells may wish to avoid the Center on Friday and Monday.

The town is also building the Homestead Aquatic Center at 300 Northern Park Drive. A groundbreaking ceremony on January 22, 2007 kicked off the construction. Completion is projected for mid-2008.

The Homestead center will include two pools, locker rooms and a meeting room.

Call the Community Center at 968-2790 for additional information.
