The Cougar varsity boys survived a tenacious effort by Smith last night. It was a team effort that pulled Culbreth to victory, 43-36. Keenan van Name led the Cougars with 12 points and an overall great game at both ends of the court. Drew Davis came on strong in the second half with 7 points while Denzel Ingram shredded the Smith pressure with many assists and 11 points. Thaijsari Ruffin and Michael Thornton played well inside for the Cougars.

The varsity boys basketball team overcame a very slow start in the first half to explode on Northern in the second half and post a 62-39 victory. The Cougars put together a complete team effort in the second half led by aggressive play from Dylan Arrant, Jeremy Shaheen and Denzel Ingram. The boys put together a dominant defensive show that led to Ingram pouring in 15 points, Keenan van Name 13 and Jake Mendys 8, with six other players also scoring.
Thaijsari Ruffin came on strong and showed that he will be a force under the basket for the Cougars. Revenge against Phillips is planned for next Tuesday. Culbreth boys are now 3-2

The Jaguars lost to Durham School of the Arts 78-76 Friday after the Bulldogs scored a three-point play in the final four seconds of the game.
Carrboro went on an 18-0 run in the third quarter that gave them the lead, but turnovers and missed free throws allowed the Bulldogs last-minute comeback.
David Brooks scored 28 for the Jaguars while the Bulldog’s Kwame Boatwright had 28 and the final basket that gave the Bulldogs the win.
The Jaguars are now 0-5 in their first season and are showing improvement.
