Immigration flip-flop
I noted that in last week’s Citizen, Sen. Ellie Kinnaird singled out Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee as saying, “We’re a better country than to punish children for what their parents did.

We’re a better country than that.” However, by the time the Citizen went to press, Huckabee had changed his mind on illegal immigration, and thus Kinnaird’s praise was already out of date.

A few days after saying those words, Huckabee changed his mind on illegal immigration and released a “Secure America” plan which will “provide all illegal immigrants a 120-day window to register with the Citizenship and Immigration Services and leave the country. Those who register and return to their home country will face no penalty if they later apply to immigrate or visit; those who do not return home will be, when caught, barred from future re-entry for a period of 10 years.”

This would include the children of illegal immigrants, so if Huckabee stays with his newfound position, it will be irrelevant whether the children of illegal immigrants can have tuition benefits or not — they’ll be required to leave the United States within 120 days, or if they are caught, they will be deported and not allowed to return to the US for a 10-year period.
