Carrboro Elementary School celebrated Second Quarter Awards on Jan. 18.
Students in grades K-2 met in the school’s auditorium to recognize both individual and class-wide special achievements during the second quarter of the school year. An assembly for students in grades 3-5 followed.
Individual awards were given to students who exhibited the character trait of kindness, as well as to students who reached personal educational achievement goals.
In addition, one student from grades K-2 and two students from grades 3-5 were recognized as Presidential Fitness Award winners.
Classes were recognized with special awards, including Playground Peacemakers, Hallway Heroes, Cafeteria Champions and Cleanest Classroom. A special “sneaker†award was given to the classrooms with the best effort in physical education.
Students who won the National PTA Reflections Competition were also recognized. Those students’ entries will continue on to the district-level competition.
To conclude the assembly, students in the dual-language program performed traditional Spanish dances for their fellow students and teachers.
