The Obama for President campaign has landed.
This week, organizers working for Barack Obama, a U.S. Senator from Illinois and frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, started operating out of the former location of Shorty’s on Franklin Street.
More staffers and volunteers are expected to arrive soon to help gear up support in the area ahead of North Carolina’s May 6 primary.
Obama, locked in a race for delegates with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, sent out a recent appeal for contributions to bolster his efforts in North Carolina and Pennsylvania — two large states with delegates still up for grabs.
Dave Tillery, who has been helping organize local grassroots support since mid-February, said he hopes to soon pass on lists and information about people interested in volunteering.
Tillery, who has done the majority of his organizing through the Obama campaign website, said he was excited to see the headquarters open. Obama, he said, is a candidate who can bring about a deep change in the country. Volunteers in the area have held sign-painting events and gathered names of people interested in helping.
Local support, Tillery said, is strong, with additional grassroots groups forming in Hillsborough and Mebane.
I stopped by the Chapel Hill For Obama headquaters yesterday to welcome them and to volunteer.I also suggested that they may want to change the handmade sign to read Chapel Hill/Carrboro For Obama and explained that lots of Obama supporters live in Carrboro. The paid out of town staff guy was very uninterested in adding Carrboro to the name. So…if we Carrboro folks keep dropping by and asking to have our name added after the first ten or so I bet they will! Stop by and ask

Is there a telephone number or a local North Carolina email address where I can actually talk with someone regarding volunteering? I just have a couple of questions regarding how I might best serve and which location, Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill needs the most help. I live in Cary and want to commit to coming in 2-3 days a week while my kids are in school. And I mean until November!
I look forward to hearing from a representative soon. If not, I will stop by one of the sites early next week to talk with someone and to get started.
Many thanks,

CAN THIS BE PASSED ON FOR CONSIDERATION TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN?
I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THE DAY!
by David De Jesus
As a human being that has been kissed by the sun
I thought that this day would surely not come
For when we was young there was so little hope
It was all we could do just to bear it and cope
Some turned drinking others to dope
The rest were just happy and dumb
Then came a smart Martin who said he had dreams
He said things should be different and not stay as they seemed
So we followed, we marched, we let out a roar
Little did we know what was really in store
Dogs biting, cops beatings, being hose down to the ground
We stood there and we took it
For a new way must be found
Things changed in some places but not so in all
So early one morning there was a phone call
They said to smart Martin shut up or be dead
He wouldn’t shut up so they filled him with lead
The movement stopped moving it all came to a halt
They all pointed fingers but no one found fault
And like headless chickens we all ran around lost
But now there is a plan
A man they call Obama, I know the name it sounds strange
But He’s talking about doing, about bringing on change
For whitey, for blacky, for one and for all
You hear what he’s saying, why not answer the call?
His youth is against him, experience so so
But with your support and your backing forward we shall go
The White House is the objective, equality the aim
So come on everybody, join in on the voting game
It counts this time not like the last
I state this fact for sure
For the failures of elections pasted
They have surely have found a cure
So on Election Day I hope and pray
These words you’ve taken to your heart
And cast your vote, to whomever casted
But show them that you’re doing your part
I have been following the Election Process with some of my coworkers and they have different ideas as to who would be the best man for the job,but all either for Barack or McCain think Palin is a joke. I admonish each of you that read this read Hebrews 11chapter,32nd verse and you will see that Barack is the man for the job it was destine 2,000 years ago.TIME is out for prejudice,no matter the color of your skin we are all the same in the sight of God and that should be the only thing that matters.Everyone is entitled to a chance.
So much for separation of Church and State, eh?
