Randy Dodd, environmental planner for the Town of Carrboro, received, on May 6, the 2008 Mobile CARE (clean air, renewable energy) Award. This award honors excellence in environmental stewardship for those working to reduce pollution from transportation emissions.
The awards were given, along with presentations on new clean technology, at the second annual NC Mobile CARE Symposium.
Dodd received the “Special Citizen†award both for his role as the town’s environmental planner and for his use of clean technologies in his private life. Dodd runs an electric scooter from solar energy produced at his house, drives an efficient biodiesel compact car and uses public transportation daily.
State Energy Office director Larry Shirley presented the awards on behalf of three state departments:
Administration, Transportation and Environment and Natural Resources.
The event was hosted by the NC Solar Center and NC State University as part of the Clean Fuel Advanced Technology project.
