School Brief: Museum opening

Posted on June 5, 2008 by Staff

Julie Dermody’s fourth-grade class of English Language Learners open their museum, “Our Life,” today (Thursday) at Scroggs Elementary School.

For the year-long project, students made multiple trips to the Ackland Art Museum and used resources from UNC’s Wilson Library, riding free Chapel Hill buses for the field trips. A local artist assisted students in creating life sculptures and the Public School Foundation provided funding for the project.

The class is a model of the sheltered instruction-observation protocol model.
