I regret the attorney general’s opinion to deny admission of undocumented students to the community college system. I believe it is wrong to deny children who did not choose to come here themselves and who have worked hard, as we urge all our children to do, from reaching their full potential and becoming contributing members of society. I also question that the opinion comports with law of the land in the many U.S. Supreme Court cases pertaining to education. The U.S. Supreme Court has held for more than 100 years that aliens are persons within the meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment and cannot be denied equal protection of the laws.
The few students who attend our community colleges pay more than the cost of their schooling and are not denying citizens a place. I fear this chilling opinion will stir even more outpouring of hate against Hispanics in our state that continues 200 years of political discrimination and xenophobia for those who are different from us. Among them even our revered Benjamin Franklin who asked why “the Palatine Boors [Germans] be suffered to swarm into our Settlements and, by herding together, establish their Language and Manners to the Exclusion of ours?†Sound familiar to today’s invective? But we all survived the German swarms, some would say to our great advantage.
I hope this election season does not try to solve the immigration problem by hurting those innocent children who are trying to achieve the American dream.

If it’s something to do with enforcing our immigration laws., the special interest lobby will crawl out of the sewer to stop its enactment. Just like the SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) a Federal bill, the laggard Democrats don’t want voted into law. Corruption has manifested itself, as house Speaker Nancy Pelosi has used intimidation to stop her clan from endorsing this legislation. Predatory employers would be arrested, fined and possibly imprisoned and millions of illegal aliens would leave of their own accord. It would give extra teeth to all immigration laws now on the books. Demand the SAVE ACT! (2022243121 ) Unsuppressed details at NUMBERSUSA
