District officials emailed The Citizen that Carrboro High School Principal Jeff Thomas, who, with a one-year-remaining contract, was reassigned to the district office with responsibilities yet to be determined. Come again?
The general quality of The Citizen is better than this news story indicates. What happened to the what, where, when, why and how of news reporting?
This reader would like some answers regarding the story.
Why an email?
Was the school board involved in the decision?
Was there faculty input?
Did the results of the high school climate student survey have an inordinate amount of weight in the decision?
Can teens understand the growing pains involved in developing a new high school?
I don’t know Jeff Thomas or the district officials, but I can only hope that the decision to relieve Mr. Thomas of his job, having served less than two years as principal, was mutually satisfactory.
Although I no longer live in the school district, I am still interested in the schools. My three daughters are alumnae of Chapel Hill High School.
