An autopsy report released Wednesday confirmed that Eve Carson, former UNC student body president, was shot at least five times with two weapons. According to the report, it appears Carson held her hand over her face as the shooter fired a shotgun that sprayed birdshot through her hand and into her temple.
The report by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner noted bullet entries in her right cheek, shoulder, arm and buttocks, and shotgun wounds in her right hand and head. It said she was found in sweatpants and a T-shirt, lying on her back toward her left hip with her head resting atop her arm.
A confidential informant told police that murder suspects Demario Atwater and Laurence Lovett Jr. entered Carson’s home through an unlocked door, forced her into her Toyota Highlander and drove her to an ATM. The informant also said that she heard Atwater say he shot Carson once after Lovette shot her numerous times.
