An Estes Park Apartments resident was charged with rape and assault on a female after the Carrboro Police Department received reports of an incident at the apartment complex Sunday night.
Jesus Salvador Molina Romero, 39, of 306 Estes Dr. Ext., apt. N2, was charged with second-degree rape, kidnapping, assault on a female and communicating a threat, according to a police report.
According to Captain J.G. Booker, the victim went to Romero’s apartment because she had spoken with him about a job opportunity. Police received reports that Romero raped the victim in his apartment and held her there against her will.
“She was looking for some type of employment, and through some mutual acquaintance [Romero] had her number, or vice-versa, and there was a contact made,†Booker said. “We would certainly always warn any female about going to a location like that regarding employment.â€
Romero is being held at the Orange County Jail under $200,000 secured bond.
