The Haw River Watch Project will host a workshop to teach about pollution in the Haw River on Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will collect water samples and inspect them under microscopes to monitor “river critters†with varying sensitivities to pollution. The health of these critters is an indication of the water quality.
Anyone is invited and there is no charge. Participants should bring waterproof shoes and bag lunch and drink. To sign up contant Cynthia Crossen at 967-2500 or riverwatch@hawriver.org. The event will be held at the Bynum Beach and Bynum Ruritan Club. For directions or more information about the Haw River Watch Project, see www.hawriver.org.
