Trekky Highway

Trekky Records, a Chapel Hill record label and collective, is the busiest it’s ever been — including its recent adoption of North Greensboro Street.

The proof can be found just a few yards up from the intersection of Weaver Street on North Greensboro, where an Adopt-a-Highway sign now stands, and with the release of the new Lost in the Trees LP this week.

The label — which Martin Anderson and Will Hackney began in high school out of Hackney’s house and car — might be young, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know their way around. Trekky just put out two new records, including Tuesday’s Lost in the Trees release, and now there’s a third project.

The album release party for the Lost in the Trees LP, composed by Ari Picker, who also sings and plays the guitar and piano for the ensemble, is at Cat’s Cradle on Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
