Barbara Clark, the Pittsboro housekeeper accused of fatally beating her former employers, pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of first-degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Clark, 42, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in prison without parole for the murders of Mary Corcoran and Margaret Murta. Investigators said Clark attacked Corcoran and Murta, as well as Rebecca Fisher, in a Galloway Ridge apartment on Dec. 5, 2007, after the women confronted her about stolen checks. Galloway Ridge is a retirement community near Fearrington Village.
Clark’s guilty plea prevents her from being sentenced to death.
