News brief: Hackney and Insko honored

Posted on October 16, 2008 by Staff

House Speaker Joe Hackney and Rep. Verla Insko will be honored for their role in securing the largest increase in the foster and adoptive family reimbursement rate since the program began. The event will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road.

In July, the General Assembly passed legislation that secures a 28 percent increase in the reimbursement rate. A national study released in early 2008 found that North Carolina needed a significant increase to provide for basic needs of children in foster care.
The event is sponsored by the Orange County Department of Social Services in partnership with the Children and Family Services Association of North Carolina.
