News brief: Board of education candidates

Seventeen candidates have submitted their names to request information about the vacancy on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education.

They are: Greg Bell, Eric Dingfelder, Jennifer Gallagher, Dabney Grinnan, MaryAnne Gucciardi, Heidi Harkins, Kyle Kaplan, Victoria Krebs, Elizabeth Lippincott, Lydia Fuse Mason, Gregory McElveen, Kevin Moore, Deb Musson, Sharon Palsha, Erin Sullivan, Gary Wallach and Theresa Watson.

Board Chair Pam Hemminger recently submitted her resignation in order to serve on the Orange County Board of Commissioners.

Candidates must submit applications by Nov. 6 and attend interviews with board members on Nov. 13. The new selected board member will be sworn in at the board’s Dec. 4 meeting. For more information or an application, visit www.chccs.k12.nc.us and click on the Board Vacancy link.
