Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will dedicate Morris Grove Elementary School on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The school, the district’s 10th elementary school, opened Aug. 25 and is attended by 530 students and has a staff of about 90. Descendants of Morris Hogan, a freed slave for whom the school was named, are expected to take part in the ceremony.
Principal Amy Rickard and school board chair Pam Hemminger will provide welcoming remarks and introductions. Elected officials will speak at the dedication.
In addition, members of the school’s fifth-grade chorus will perform. Guests will be invited to take tours of the building and enjoy refreshments.
