Community brief: Meet-the-Author Tea

The Orange County Public Library will host an Author Tea with Valerie Raleigh Yow at 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Main Library on West Tryon Street in Hillsborough.

Yow will read from and discuss her most recent book, Betty Smith: Life of the Author of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Yow is a psychologist, playwright and former history professor who lives in Chapel Hill. She has authored several books, including The History of Hera: A Woman’s Art Cooperative and Recording Oral History: A Guide for the Humanities and Social Sciences, chosen by the American Library Association for its list “Outstanding Academic Titles of 2006.”
