School brief: Morris Grove grants

Posted on November 6, 2008 by Staff

Morris Grove Elementary School teachers recently received four grants from Donors Choose.
Mary Alice Lyons, K-2 literacy coach, received three of the awards. She received $382 for “Lovely Letters: Kindergarten ABC Experts.” This grant will fund magnetic alphabet letters and stamps to support letter identification. She received $641 for “Mi Libro, Tu Libro” (“My Book, Your Book”). This grant will allow MGE to create a K-2 Spanish picture-book library for students and families to check out. She received $396 for “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?” These funds will purchase books to support second graders as they begin to study dialog.

Physical Education Teacher Lisa Frangipane received a $323 grant for “Physical Education + Math=Orienteering.” This grant will allow the PE department to purchase a map and compass kit so students can learn orienteering skills.
