Community brief: Pilobolus dance performs

Posted on November 13, 2008 by Staff

More than 1,200 area children will see the internationally renowned dance troupe Pilobolus on Nov. 21 at Memorial Hall on the UNC campus.

The show is the third Carolina Performing Arts Student Matinee. More than 20 Triangle schools are bringing students to the show.

The dance troupe will perform three different pieces for the matinee: “Walklyndon,” “Pseudopodia” and “Lanterna Magica,” the company’s newest piece. Pilobolus has been praised for its educational initiative, The Pilobolus Institute, which hosts adult workshops, summer camps for kids, community workshops, in-school and after-school programming and full-scale residencies.

Pilobolus also will perform to a sold-out audience at 8 p.m. that evening as part of Carolina Performing Arts’ 2008-09 Dance Series.
