A rally to support the striking Moncure Plywood workers will be held on Saturday at noon at the Chatham County Courthouse in Pittsboro.
Moncure Plywood International Association of Machinists Local 369 have been on strike since July 2008, charging that their employer has refused to bargain in good faith and demanded a 60-hour mandatory work week, a prohibitive 300 to 400 percent increase in health-insurance premiums and a cut in pension benefits, seniority and other rights the union has negotiated.
Supporters are urged to bring holiday food, financial contributions and toys. For more information, call Lori Hoyt at 968-1888 or Miriam Thompson at 370-4114.
