Horton Middle School presented five handmade quilts, the result of the collective efforts of 320 students, to Chatham County Habitat for Humanity on Friday.
While making the quilts, the students learned about poverty with extracurricular activities including singing and performing skits. Most of the fabric used to create the quilts was donated by the French Connection of Pittsboro.
Chatham Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit that helps low-income families build and finance safe and affordable homes. For more information or to volunteer, see www.chathamhabitat.org
