Two Odyssey of the Mind teams from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools qualified to compete at the World Finals in Iowa, May 27 to 31. The teams qualified at the state competition, held April 4 at Wingate University.
The East Chapel Hill High School team won first place in the Technical Problem category. Team members are Lauren Paglia, Ted Shepherd, Laura West, Fiona Stewart-Taylor, Nick White, Nick Burnard and Ian Phillips. The team also won the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award for exceptional creativity in problem solution. In addition, team member Ted Shepherd received one of two North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind Scholarships for college-bound high school students.
Culbreth Middle School’s team won second place in the Vehicle Problem. Team members are Ben Spreen, Raymond Zhang, Hunter Pfeiffer, Carl Hintz, Sophia Winkler, Katie Richardson and Franklin Hirsch.
