Town to declare May 4 ‘Anoop Day’

Posted on April 30, 2009 by Staff

The Town of Chapel Hill will declare May 4 Anoop Day in honor of Chapel Hill native Anoop Desai, who was recently voted off of the top-rated reality show “American Idol.”

Desai made it to the round of the top seven before being voted off last week. He will attend Monday’s Chapel Hill Town Council meeting, where council members and Mayor Kevin Foy will present him with the key to the city and the proclamation declaring May 4 Anoop Day in Chapel Hill.

A reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carolina Club on the UNC campus on Monday to honor Desai. In addition, Desai will say hello to fans at Robert’s at the Franklin Hotel on West Franklin Street on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Thank you so much for doing this for Anoop. He is very smart and down to the earth kinda person. I have not met him but a huge fan of his. He is a true inspiration to young indian generation. Waiting to buy his album.
