Writing contest winners

More than 200 students took part in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Centennial Writing Project in honor of the 100th anniversary of the district.
In the K-2 category, first prize went to Maggie Springer, Morris Grove Elementary, while second prize was awarded to Ellen Gross, Scroggs Elementary, and Sreeram Samyuktha, Morris Grove Elementary, won third place. The Judges’ Choice Award was presented to Emily Abramowitz, Rashkis Elementary.

In the 3-5 Category, Emma Kunkel, Morris Grove Elementary, won first place, followed by Yifei Wang, Glenwood Elementary, second place, and Kris Kim, Estes Hills Elementary, third place. The Judges’ Choice Award was presented to Jesse Prakken, Frank Porter Graham Elementary.

In the middle school category, first place went to Alejandro Mojica, Culbreth Middle School, second place was awarded to Ethan Mikhail, Phillips Middle School, and Sophie To, Phillips Middle, won third place. Bokyoung Choi, Culbreth Middle, earned the Judges’ Choice Award.
In the high school category, first place went to Dylan Arant, Carrboro High, second place went to Neela Mahanty, Carrboro High, and Herman Bhupal, East Chapel Hill High, earned third place.
