Obituary: Theodore Curtis Chambers

Mr. Theodore Curtis Chambers, 75, of Leland, formally of Chapel Hill, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Theodore was born July 3, 1933. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Frances Chambers, and his parents, Rooney and Lizzie Chambers.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Helen Chambers, of Wilmington; a special nephew and wife, Billy and Patsy Chambers, of the home; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; along with other family members.

Theodore grew up as a farmer and he worked at Dobb’s House Catering Service at Raleigh-Durham Airport for 20 years. He lived in Chapel Hill most of his life before moving to Leland with his nephew and wife, Billy and Patsy Chambers. He enjoyed playing with his great-great nephew and niece, William and Amy Chambers, as well as chasing them around the yard on his scooter until becoming sick.

He was a very fun, loving, enjoyed, and humorous person who loved his family and friends very much. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11 a.m.
at Merritt’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Richard Farmer officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Autumn Care of Wilmington, the staff on the 3rd floor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, and Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center of Wilmington.
