The Great Hall of University Baptist Church will be the venue for what promises to be a lively discussion of modern politics.
The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m. today (May 21), is titled “Modern American Politics: Reform and Progress in the Post-Watergate Era†and is open to the public. Admission is free.
Sponsored by Common Cause North Carolina, the discussion will feature former UNC system President William Friday, former Carter Administration official and UNC professor Hodding Carter III, former News and Observer Publisher Frank Daniels, Jr. and Common Cause national president Bob Edgar. Gene Nichol, former dean of the UNC Law School and director of UNC’s Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity, is the moderator.
Edgar said he is excited about his visit to North Carolina.
“I look forward to sharing the stage at University Baptist Church with a group of people who know about the value of the reform movement in strengthening our democracy and achieving progressive social change,†he said.
Parking for the event is available behind the church.
