Farm to fork picnic planned

Posted on June 4, 2009 by Staff

The W.C. Breeze Family Farm in Hurdle Mills will be the scene of this year’s Farm to Fork Picnic.

The picnic, put together by the Center for Environmental Farming Systems, Orange County Cooperative Extension and Slow Food Triangle, is an annual celebration of local food and farms. The event is on Sunday, June 14 from
4-7 p.m.

More than 53 farms and restaurants will team up to provide everything from field-ripened tomatoes to head-to-tail heritage pork to all local sno cones. There will also be a tasting tent of local foods featuring farmstead cheese, pickles, preserves, breads and cured meats.

Advance tickets are required. They may be purchased on-line at armtoforknc.com or by calling 755-3804. The cost is $50 per person; free for kids 12 and under. Proceeds go to support programs to support new farms and farmers in North Carolina.
