The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership is hosting a meet-and-greet with Jim Norton, who is the new executive director of the partnership, today (Thursday) at Spanky’s from 4 to 6 p.m.
An East Carolina University grad, Norton has more than 25 years of downtown-development experience. Prior to coming to the Southern Part of Heaven, he was president of Downtown Tulsa Unlimited. He also helped create the national Main Street Program, an initiative begun by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to promote and revitalize downtown business districts. In case you’re wondering if his Pirate affiliation might be a problem, please note that Norton’s wife Annie is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Public Health.
