Obituary: Lillian Thompson Taylor

Mrs. Bessie Lillian Thompson Taylor, 81, of Efland died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Efland High School and attended Duke University. She was employed by Centel Telephone until her retirement.

Surviving are her children, Elaine Dale T. Long, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Mary T. Bowman (Gil), Fayetteville; James W. Taylor Jr. (Mary), Efland; Floyd Herbert Taylor (Tammy), Efland; Elizabeth “Betty” T. Harder (Russell), Efland; Nancy T. Freeman (Ronnie), Efland; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, James W. Taylor Sr., and son Robert F. Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Efland by the Rev. Cindy Lister and the Rev. Chris Grill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Walker’s Funeral Home of Hillsborough and other times at the home of Betty and Russell Harder, 2000 Bane Road, Efland.

Flowers are acceptable or donations to Fairfield Presbyterian Church may be made. The family thanks special friends and caregivers Gladys Walston, Bell Alston, Pat Alston and Debbie Knight.
