Orange County has 15 confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, and case counts are expected to rise over the summer. Chatham County has seven confirmed cases.
Symptoms of the H1N1 virus include a high fever (though fever may be absent), a runny or stuffy nose, coughing, a sore throat and body aches.
Swine flu spreads in the same way as regular seasonal influenza viruses, which is from person to person in respiratory droplets of coughs and sneezes.
