Editor’s Note: Following is a proclamation recently adopted by the Carrboro Board of Aldermen recognizing the graduation of the first class of Carrboro High School.

WHEREAS, Carrboro High School opened in August 2007 as the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certified High School in North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, June 13, 2009 will mark a milestone in the budding history of Carrboro High School; and
WHEREAS, the Class of 2009 will be the first graduating class of 138 students; and
WHEREAS, the graduates devoted approximately 15,000 hours of service to the community, the nation, and abroad; and
WHEREAS, they were awarded over $2.4 million in scholarships; and
WHEREAS, this exceptional group have firmly established a solid foundation of high expectations, raising the bar for future Carrboro High graduates to follow; and
WHEREAS, the architecture and culture of Carrboro High School embody the essence and unique character of Carrboro; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Carrboro congratulates Carrboro High School’s Class of 2009 for a momentous achievement to be celebrated by family, teachers, coaches, staff, and community; and
WHEREAS, The Board of Aldermen and the entire Town Of Carrboro are proud of the academic, service and athletic achievements of the Class of 2009 and encourage them to continue learning, aim high and follow their dreams.
