New landfill rules

Posted on July 9, 2009 by Staff

As of July 27, free landfill permits will no longer be issued by Orange County. Permits issued prior to that date must be used on or before July 25. Residents can take materials not accepted at the Orange County Solid Waste Convenience centers to the Orange County Landfill and now must pay the associated cost.
Pick-up truck loads (1,000 pounds or less) of mixed waste are $22 each. Vegetative waste/brush and clean, unpainted and untreated wood should be separated for recycling at reduced rates. Scrap metal and corrugated cardboard can be recycled at no charge.

Also as of July 27, mattresses and box springs will no longer be accepted at the convenience centers. Orange County residents will need to bring those items directly to the Orange County Landfill.
