Being a small-town newspaper editor has its advantages, not the least of which is that people call up and tell you when odd things happen. It’s pretty much what you might imagine: loose chickens, coyote sightings, cryptic messages, naked people and so on.

The other day, a call came in from a sheepish individual who wanted to relate how goofy she’d just been. She said she loves how she can pretty much walk everywhere she needs to go. “I try to walk everywhere,†she said.
