By now, most students have met their teachers, scoped out their classrooms, and bought the perfect mixture of notebooks, pens and pencils — so there’s only one thing left to do: go to school.
Alarm clocks are back in operation for both students and teachers next week, as schools all around the area return to the grind.
Teachers have spent the past week getting their classrooms in order by picking just the right desk configurations for the ultimate learning experience and ensuring their new batches of students will be in the perfect learning environments.
Of course, those classrooms will never be that pristine again once the students arrive.
In the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system, students in grades 1-12 return on Tuesday, Aug. 25 and kindergarten students on Thursday, Aug. 27.
In both the Chatham and Orange county school systems, students return Aug. 25.
And if parents, students and teachers alike aren’t as excited about school as they think they should be, Back to School Day at University Mall should be just the thing to set the mood.
The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be school spirit wear to buy, places to sign up for booster clubs and PTSAs and time to meet and mingle with others embarking on a similar journey to a new school year.
