Chefs at the market

Posted on September 10, 2009September 10, 2009 by Staff

Mark your calendars for Sept. 19. That’s when you’ll have a chance to meet and talk with some of the area’s top local chefs at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market. Acme’s Kevin Callaghan, Bret Jennings from Elaine’s on Franklin, Glasshalfull’s Ricky Moore, Matt and Sheila Neal from Neal’s Deli, Il Palio’s Adam Rose, Bill Smith from Crook’s Corner and Amy Tornquist from Watt’s Grocery will offer advice on how to eat well on a budget.

This year’s theme is “Blue Plate Special” in recognition of the down economy. Although there are several notions as to the origin of the term Blue Plate Special, it often relates to an especially low-priced meal, traditionally served on a divided plate, which includes a meat and two vegetables. The event runs from 9 a.m. until the food runs out.
