Gov. Bev Perdue announced on Friday that $37.2 million in lottery funds were being returned to school systems across the state. In February, the governor withheld money from the Public School Building Capital Fund to manage the state’s cash flow during the budget emergency for the fiscal year that ended June 30.Â
Sen. Ellie Kinnaird said last week that Orange and Person counties next week will receive over $672,000 for school construction needs due to the restoration of the funds. Chapel Hill-Carrboro will receive $323,485, Orange County: $194,934 and Person County $154,560.
