The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Association of Educators is inviting students in grades K-12 to participate in an essay contest to honor all those who work for CHCCS.
The topic is “My Favorite CHCCS School Employee†or “My Most Influential CHCCS
School Employee.†Students are encouraged to write about any teacher, counselor, school nurse, administrator, custodian or anyone else who works in the public schools. Students can choose to write a personal narrative, creative story, poem, song, essay or any other genre. All entries are due by Dec. 11.
A panel of judges from Lincoln Center will read all entries. The maximum length for K-2 entries is 250 words and may include drawings or word pictures.
The maximum length for 3-5 is 500 words, 700 words for 6-8 and 850 words for 9-12.
Each entry must include a completed and signed permission/confirmation form and must be submitted on 8.5 x 11 white paper. K-2 entries may be handwritten or word processed.
Entries from grades 3 and up must be word processed in Times New Roman, 12 point font. K-2 entries that are handwritten can be turned into the classroom teacher. A winner will be selected from each grade. Each winner will receive a certificate of recognition. In addition, the winners will go out to lunch with the school employee about whom he/she wrote.
